Amazon launched Echo Wall Clock at its annual event last year. Amazon’s smart wall clock that was launched at a price of $29.99 (Rs 2,147 approx) not only allowed users to set timers and reminders but it also came with daylight saving setting. Now, a new report suggests that Amazon could be working on a special edition version of its Echo Wall Clock.
According to a report by The Verge, a Mickey Mouse-themed Echo Wall Clock has been spotted on the website of the Federal Communications Commission. The Mickey Mouse-themed Echo Wall Clock comes with a smiling cartoon figure in the background with the arms of the character forming the hands of Amazon’s smart wall clock. This is unlike the dark background of the Echo Wall Clock that was launched last year with white coloured hands.
Beyond that there appears to be no change in design (both front and back) of the device. Mickey Edition (ME) Echo Wall Clock comes with the same LED lights that are present in the original Echo Wall Clock. However, the FCC filing doesn’t seem to shed light on the technical details of the device leaving us unsure if Amazon’s smart wall clock will get any upgrades or not.
What is interesting is that the images of the Mickey Edition Echo Wall Clock can be seen from all angles in an FCC filing for this entry. However, newer filing seems to missing on the images special edition wall clock raising raising question about Amazon’s plans. Nevertheless, a Mickey Mouse-themed Echo Wall Clock doens’t seem completely out of realm for Amazon. Apple also offers a Mickey Mouse-themed watch face for its Apple Watch series. So it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if Amazon launches a wall clock with a giant Mickey face on it.
Separately, reports also indicate that Amazon is planning to launch an Amazon Web Services (AWS) based game streaming service as soon as next year. That said, Amazon hasn’t confirmed anything yet. And so we will have for an official confirmation from the company to know more about.
